This is a trade job. You show up, you figure out what’s wrong, you fix it right, and you leave the door running better than the homeowner expected. Most days you’re done in a single visit because the truck is stocked before you leave the shop. The work is physical, sometimes repetitive, and occasionally a spring will remind you that this isn’t a job for someone who didn’t pay attention during training. But there’s a satisfaction to it that’s hard to find in a lot of other work: something that was broken is now working, the homeowner watched you do it, and you can stand behind every step you took. That’s the job. If that sounds like your kind of day, keep reading.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Garage Door Service Technician – The person who can read a door’s noise and posture the way a mechanic reads an engine, then fix the right thing the first time.
  • Installation Technician – Someone with the patience to hang and set a door square, level, and tight, and who won’t cut corners when nobody’s watching.
  • Opener Specialist – Comfortable with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and Craftsman systems, and confident enough to walk a homeowner through the remote setup after the job.
  • Parts and Supply Associate – Detail-oriented, knows what’s on the shelf and what needs to be ordered, and understands that a technician waiting on a spring is a technician not earning.
  • Dispatcher / Service Coordinator – The person who keeps four technicians on track, answers a panicked call about a door that won’t close at 7 p.m., and never lets a customer feel forgotten between calls.
  • Customer Service Representative – Someone who sounds like a real person on the phone – because at Mainspring, a real person always answers – and who treats every caller the way they’d want their own family treated.

What We Offer

Real Training and a Clear Path Forward

New technicians don’t get handed a truck and a wish of luck. We train under the K.E.Y.S. values code – Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it – and journeymen who know the trade pass that knowledge down in the shop and on the job. The path from apprentice to lead tech is built on demonstrated skill, not seniority, and we can show you what that path looks like before you ever sign anything.

Work You Can Be Proud Of

The 90-Day Done Right Promise isn’t a marketing line. It’s in writing on every job, and it means that when you leave a driveway, you’re leaving work you can stake your name to. Our pricing is flat and stated before the wrench comes out, which means you’re never put in the position of defending a bill the customer didn’t see coming. That’s the kind of operation where a craftsman can actually do their best work.

National Backing, Local Crew

Mainspring has been part of local communities since 1984, and the Keystone family of companies hires local and stays local. You’re not a number in a national call center; you’re part of a crew that answers the county fair’s call the same day it answers yours. The backing of a company with eleven locations and over four decades of history means the business is stable, but the job still feels like working alongside neighbors.

Steady, Year-Round Demand

Garage doors break in January and in July, in rain and in sun. The work doesn’t dry up in the off-season because there isn’t one. Homeowners who’ve been in their house for twenty years eventually need a spring, a cable, or a new opener, and they want someone they can trust to show up, fix it right, and not come back for the wrong reasons. That’s a consistent workload, and it builds consistent careers.

No Experience? Read This.

If you’ve spent time doing HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, auto mechanics, carpentry, or general construction, you already understand more of this job than you think. Working with your hands in someone’s home, reading a problem before you touch it, and knowing when to call for a second set of eyes – those things transfer directly.

What we teach: spring and cable systems, opener brands and their quirks, how to hang and level a door, and how to talk to a homeowner who’s had a rough morning because their car is trapped in the garage. The first months are structured. You ride along, you watch, you get hands-on with supervision, and you don’t get pushed into solo work before you’re ready. The goal is a technician who can handle a job correctly on visit one, every time. Carl and the crew have built the training around exactly that standard.
